Back in 2006, a man who was born and raised in Kharkiv went to military service in one of the units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. After completing his service, the young man immediately signed a contract, graduated from the Kennel Training Center of the State Border Guard Service and continued his service at the border.

During the last three years he served in the Donetsk Border Detachment. Together with his four-legged assistant, the spaniel Jesse performed tasks at the checkpoint “Marinka”. With the beginning of the insidious and evil full-scale military invasion of Russia in Ukraine, everything changed in Sergey's life. Frontline Marinka was under constant shelling by Russian invaders who tried to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian defenders.

In April 2022, during one of the battles, from the shot of an enemy tank, Sergei was thrown by a shock wave from the second floor of the building where his firing position was equipped. The border guard received a contusion and a back injury.

After a long treatment, Sergei was transferred for further service to one of the border units in Sumy region, where he defends his native land from Russian invaders side by side with his brothers. Recently, Sergei had a short-term vacation, during which he, after almost a year of service, saw his relatives.

The border guard soon dreams of seeing his four-legged companion, Jessie the spaniel, who, after Sergei was wounded, stayed with his brothers in the Donetsk region:

“We have someone and something to protect. This is our country, our relatives, loved ones, friends. We will drive the enemy out of Ukrainian territory and build a strong, free and flourishing country.”
