We must do everything possible to make everyone feel safe in Ukraine, — Igor Klymenko

This was emphasized today, March 28, by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko during a working meeting with the leadership of the Research Forum of representatives of the US police, headed by Director General Chuck Wexler.

The American organization was founded almost half a century ago, today it provides management services, technical assistance and advanced training of senior law enforcement personnel.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the formation of assault brigades of the “Guard of Offensive”, as well as the creation of a security environment in Ukraine after the war.

At the beginning of the meeting, Igor Klimenko expressed his gratitude to the American delegation: “First of all, I want to express gratitude to the American people for the support you have been providing in the fight against the enemy since the first day of the war.” Also, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke about the assistance recently received from the Howard Buffett Foundation to Ukrainian pyrotechnics of the Kherson region. They received two armored complexes for mechanical demining.

During the event, the Minister announced the formation of eight assault brigades of the “Guard of Offensive”, which will act as part of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, and spoke about the need for additional assistance for their functioning.

In the context of creating a safe environment after the war, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed the importance of establishing systematic work so that every serviceman and every citizen feels safe.

“We also think about peacetime and need advice on organizing the creation of a safe space just after the victory. We must do everything possible to make people feel safe in Ukraine: those who returned from the front and those who remained in the rear regions,” said Igor Klymenko.

He noted that today the Ministry of Internal Affairs is forming a roadmap of successive steps. They are primarily aimed at providing a sense of security after the war. It is also about the formation of anti-crisis programs for police officers who will interact with participants in hostilities.

For his part, Chuck Wexler assured that the American organization plans to continue to provide all necessary support to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and deepen cooperation on issues that the parties discussed during the meeting.
