Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Akopian gave an extensive interview to the news agency Ukrinform, in particular, she noted that Ukraine is currently acting as the architect of pan-European and even global security. The current situation, when 270 days have passed since the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, clearly showed that no one in the world could cope with what Ukraine has coped with.

“Ukraine has managed to destroy patterns, prove historical independence and statehood, independent of any Russian project. We are emerging from the “long shadow” of lower cost into the category of a full-fledged player in the international arena, generating new contexts for the security and economic development of the entire region. Right now, the formation of a new balance of power in the world continues — and we are key participants in it, because the previous balance has been destroyed,” said Mary Akopian.

She is sure that NATO already understands the urgency of internal restructuring. At the same time, Ukraine currently has the strong support of the Alliance states in the struggle for common values. The main result of this story is that no country will continue to allow total dependence on one player — political or resource.

At the same time, Ukraine is a kind of testing ground in the development of technology to prevent various risks — military, economic, environmental, social. And the role of law enforcement in this “laboratory” is extraordinary.

“We clearly understand that we need to revise all the strategies that have existed so far, to rebuild the functionality of the components of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We did not foresee many really important things before, because we did not imagine that such a need would arise. For example, the National Guard's regulatory base said nothing about demining units. And we quickly settled it legislatively. Dozens of such “corrections” were made during the war. This work is ongoing,” the Deputy Minister commented on the aspect of conclusions and improvements to be made by the law enforcement agency in the context of wartime.
