Mary Akopian inspected the premises of the future DNA laboratory at Donduvs

On February 17, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Mary Akopian and Head of Police of Donetsk Oblast Ruslan Osipenko visited DonDUVS on a working visit. During the meeting, the rector of the university Serhiy Vitvitskyi introduced the guests of the educational institution to the activities of the university and the prospects of its development.

In the main building of the university, guests held a presentation of the educational institution. The Deputy Minister and the Head of Police of Donetsk Oblast got acquainted with the material and technical base of the DonDUV, inspected the progress of the repair work of the premises of the future DNA laboratory, which is scheduled to open at the end of March this year.

Rector DonDUVS noted that the opening of a DNA laboratory at the university will provide an opportunity to expand the internal structure of the Higher Education Institution by opening an investigative and forensic faculty on the basis of the laboratory. The main purpose of the laboratory is to conduct examinations for the police of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

On modern expert forensic equipment, university graduates and practical police officers will be able to improve their theoretical knowledge and raise their professional level. The equipment for the DNA laboratory is provided with the support of international partners: the Consultative Mission of the European Union, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the European Commission in Ukraine.

At the end of the meeting, Mary Akopian expressed confidence in the feasibility of creating a DNA laboratory on the basis of DonDUVs and the support of this initiative from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
