Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Akopian met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Mr. Michael Brodsky.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the main directions of cooperation between our states in the context of law enforcement issues.

First of all, we were talking about the current situation in Ukraine, associated with the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs informed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel with the security situation and the main challenges that faced the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The parties discussed the issue of treatment and rehabilitation of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in medical institutions of Israel, as well as the possibility of professional improvement of Ukrainian psychologists on the basis of Israeli specialized institutions, joint implementation of diagnostic and psychological assistance projects for post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD)) in combatants.

“Israel's medicine is considered one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, many Ukrainian soldiers have suffered injuries and require highly qualified medical care. Therefore, the Ukrainian side is counting on Israel's support in this matter,” said Mary Akopyan.

The parties separately discussed the priorities of the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine during the war. It was about the need for international support in the issues of humanitarian demining and increasing the capabilities of Ukrainian pyrotechnic units, because about half of the territory of Ukraine is potentially contaminated with explosive objects, as well as the restoration of the material and technical base of the department.

Meeting participants also exchanged views on security risks and threats to Hasidic pilgrims who travel to Uman every year to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.

According to Mikhael Brodsky, the Israeli side is fully aware of the current threats and risks and strongly recommends its citizens to refrain from this year's visits to Ukraine, where large-scale hostilities continue.

Under any circumstances, even in the event that no restrictions on pilgrims are introduced in Ukraine, the parties will, as usual, cooperate closely on security at the level of law enforcement agencies of both states.
