Memes “Good evening, we are from Ukraine”, “Russian warship, go to...”, dog Patron; Chornobayivka; cruiser “Moscow” have now become known to the whole world. But they were born in the most difficult days for Ukrainians - at the beginning of the Russian invasion. If we are able to joke in the most difficult times, then we will stand and win.
➤ Meme “Good evening, we are from Ukraine!” — belongs to the Ukrainian border guards, who even before the war filmed and posted on their Facebook page on December 30, 2021 a patriotic video with this greeting. And when, with the beginning of the Russian invasion, the broadcast of the National Television Marathon of News “United News” began, it was one of the first slogans of the war period, which went on the air and into the wider world. In particular, he was supported, welcoming these words on the air, by the then Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, the Minister of Defense Alexei Reznikov and the head of the Nikolaev regional military administration Vitaly Kim, as well as other officials and public opinion leaders.

The meme was born on February 24, when the Russian missile cruiser “Moscow” and the enemy patrol ship “Vasily Bykov” approached the Ukrainian island of Zmiiny, where 13 border guards of the Izmail border detachment were located. The Russians twice declared to the garrison: “I am a Russian warship. I will present myself to the defense and get ready...”.
In response, one of the Ukrainian border guards of the island Zmiiny replied: “Russian warship, go to our**”.
The phrase became one of the symbols of the struggle against the Russian invaders. The bold response was received with admiration by people, and the phrase became a meme. The reason for the popularity among the people of this phrase was the categorical refusal of the author of this phrase to offer to surrender to the enemy.
➤ Dog Cartridge
The first publications about the Patron dog appeared on March 15, 2022. The cartridge was called the talisman of a detachment of pyrotechnicians who were engaged in the mining of territories in the Chernihiv region. Patron is now depicted in dozens of works of art, including murals in Rivne, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia and Kiev, as well as in a series of videos in which he talks about the rules of conduct when detecting explosive objects in his recognizable signature vest.
On May 5, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced the creation of the International Coordination Center on Humanitarian Demining, the Patron became its symbol. On May 8, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Patron the medal “For Dedicated Service”, and his master Mikhail Iliev - the Order “For Courage” III degree enya.
On May 27, Patron was awarded the Palm DogManitarian Award — a special award from the 75th Cannes International Film Festival for the connection between humans and dogs.
Patron has its own page on Instagram, at the beginning of January 2024, the number of followers reached more than 418 thousand.
The dog Patron, who helped rescuers to deport Chernihiv, became a real hero for Ukrainians, and a favorite for children.
Together with the cat rescued from the seventh floor of the destroyed house, which spent about two months without water and food in it, the dog Patron became a symbol of the indestructibility of Ukrainians in the fight against the Russian military.
On November 20, 2022, Patron became the first dog with the title “Dog of Goodwill” from UNICEF.
➤ Chornobayivka
To see Chornobayivka and die. The network exploded with memes in February-March 2022 due to a series of defeats by Russian invaders.
The airfield near the village of Chornobayivka (Kherson region) became a kind of “Bermuda Triangle” for the Russian invaders. Ukrainian defenders repeatedly destroyed Russian planes and helicopters at the airport and even eliminated the command post of the Russian army.
As noted above, for the first time at Chornobayivka airfield Ukrainian defenders defeated the forces of the Russian occupiers on February 27. The Russians decided that twice in one place, the Bayraktars would not attack and continued to use Chornobayivka as a landing site for their landing.
However, six attempts by the invaders eventually ended in an excruciating suicide.

“Moskva” is a Soviet and Russian rocket cruiser of the 1164 project (code “Atlant”, eng. Slava class according to NATO classification), which was in service from 1982 to 2022. The main ship of its series. He was part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and was its flagship. In 2022, during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, it was destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It became widely known after the attack on February 24, 2022 on the Ukrainian garrison on the island of Zmiiny, when the occupiers offered to Ukrainian border guards to surrender the ship received the now worded phrase: “Russian warship, go to us**”.
On April 13, 2022, the Ukrainian Navy struck the cruiser with two P-360 “Neptune” cruise missiles of the coastal anti-ship complex RK-360MC “Neptune”.
