LvDUVS has developed a comprehensive preventive program of interagency cooperation in the field of combating trafficking in human beings
Today, November 4, the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs presented and signed the Comprehensive Preventive Program of Interagency Interagency Interagency Cooperation in the field of combating trafficking in human beings. The document was developed within the framework of the cooperation agreement concluded last year between the Lviv Regional State Administration, the Department of Migration Police of the National Police of Ukraine and the Department of Social Protection of the Population of Lviv Regional State Administration.
The program is planned to be implemented during 2023-2025. Its main tasks are to increase the level of professional training of migration police officers, to establish interaction between all actors in the fight against trafficking in human beings, as well as to conduct an information campaign among the population.
Roman Blaguta, Rector of Lviv University, noted that the idea of creating such a program arose due to the established cooperation between the university, the migration police and the Lviv regional state administration.
“Today we met to take an important step to combat human trafficking. I want to thank everyone who participated in the development of this comprehensive program. There are many plans ahead, and I am sure that gradually we will be able to realize everything we have planned,” the head of the university stressed.
Deputy Head of the Department of Migration Police of NPU Serhiy Sotnikov stressed the importance of further cooperation and expressed gratitude to the university staff for developing a program of interdepartmental cooperation.
During the working meeting, Ulyana Dorosh, Head of the Family Policy Sector of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of Lviv Regional Military Administration, also spoke. “In this difficult time for our country, such initiatives are extremely necessary. We have repeatedly talked about the need to create a comprehensive program to combat trafficking in human beings. Thank you for taking on this important mission,” said Uliana Dorosh.
Her colleague, chief specialist of the family policy sector of the LOVA Department of Social Protection Natalia Korchynska, spoke about the project that they plan to implement to help victims of sexual slavery. She also stressed that in order to overcome the problem of human trafficking, it is necessary to unite the efforts of all stakeholders.
A comprehensive program of interdepartmental cooperation was presented by one of its developers, the head of the research laboratory of LvDUVS Larysa Brych. She said that this document consists of six sections that cover different areas of interaction. In particular, carrying out measures to improve the training of law enforcement officers, develop and amend legislation in the field of combating trafficking in human beings.
“The researchers note that the most effective in the fight against 'modern slavery' are social measures. Therefore, there is a large block in the program concerning educational and educational initiatives,” said Larysa Brych.
She also noted that the interdepartmental program, developed by scientists of Lviv DuvS, can become part of the implementation of the country-wide policy in the field of combating trafficking in human beings.
