“I love them as children, but I demand them as partners,” - dog trainer Tatiana Danyliuk about her service dogs
The police officer deals with three German Shepherd Dogs and trains them to carry out tasks to detect weapons and explosives, as well as search for people for a scent trail.
Already in adulthood, Tatiana Danyliuk realized her childhood dream — she became the owner of a German Shepherd Dog. The woman, along with her first pet, were fond of canine sports. In 2018, she began serving in the police ranks of the Kiev region. During the initial training in Zhytomyr, the police trained two dogs in different directions. Ten-month-old Isaac taught people to search for a scent trail, and 3-year-old Thor to search for explosive objects and weapons. From then on, they perform official duties together.
Tatyana's pets are very different in character. Isaac is cheerful and playful, he is always happy to make new acquaintances and willingly goes into contact, both with adults and children. And Thor is the complete opposite of him, because he has a rather wayward character. Only the owner can work, play, carry out veterinary procedures with him. Despite these features, the police officer equally loves her ponytails. Tatyana always easily finds a common language with them, because she is engaged in business at the call of the heart.
In 2021, Tatiana Danyliuk, together with her husband, who is also a law enforcement officer, transferred to the service of Zaporizhzhya region. Recalling her first combat mission, during the full-scale invasion of the occupation forces of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Tatiana says that when asked by her fellow dog trainers if she was scared, she answered: “Yes, but I was afraid not for myself, but for the dog, because I was in a helmet and a vest, and He is without. Then she even regretted that she did not teach him a safer specialization. For example, looking for drugs.”
As Tatyana notes, every dog has a mind, heart and soul, you just need to find an approach - this is the main principle that she is guided by during the training of her furry companions. Only our four-legged friends can demonstrate what true devotion and loyalty is.
The head of the police canine center Roman Katsuba has the same opinion. For more than 18 years, the policeman has been working with four-legged assistants of law enforcement officers. His ability to communicate well with dogs helps him to successfully perform his duties. And service in a team of like-minded people facilitates the solution of the most difficult tasks.
“My job is to continue the work of my father, full of love for animals,” says the policeman.
His father, a veteran of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, worked for 28 years in law enforcement agencies. Most of his service, the militia major devoted to the upbringing of four-legged companions and by his own example instilled in his son not only the desire to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, but also the love of dogs.
In 2021, the captain of the police was appointed head of the canine center of the GUNP in the Zaporizhzhya region. Roman Katsuba says that now 30 dogs are serving in the Zaporizhzhia police. Ten of them are looking for explosives, four are for drugs, eight are wanted, four are for convoys, one is for assault, and three are preparing for the search for remains and corpses of people. The dog trainer's working day begins with caring for the wards. Mandatory morning walk, which allows the employee to see what mood the dog is in, whether he is ready to perform tasks.
In general, the employees of the center are assigned tasks related to the effective use of service dogs in the search and detention of offenders, the detection of serious crimes, the detection of drugs and explosives, firearms, the provision of public safety and order, the convoy of arrested and convicted persons, in important objects.
And doctors who understand animals without words - veterinarians support the health and fighting spirit of our four-legged friends. On August 13, they celebrate their professional holiday. Congratulations and thanks for caring for our little brothers.
