Flood Relief: Rescue Training Completed in Poland
During September 6 and 7, rescue training continued in the Polish town of Novy Dwer-Mazowiecki. They were attended by emergency personnel from Ukraine, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland. Training took place continuously, including at night.
According to the training scenario, a dangerous flood-related situation arose along the Narva and Vistula rivers. Rescue teams improved their skills in evacuating populations using boats, pumping water from flooded areas, and fortifying dams to avoid further flooding of areas.
The Ukrainian flood control module worked together with Finnish colleagues. During the work, the groups were able to exchange experiences on responding to this kind of situation.
In general, such trainings make it possible to work out the peculiarities of the interaction of rescue teams within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
