Serhiy Stakhovskyi took part in the ceremony honoring players who completed their careers in 2022. The Ukrainian came out on the court in a guard uniform.

“This is not how I imagined the end of my career. But the new realities forced all of us — Ukrainians — to unite and make the maximum that depends on us for our victory. Thank you to the command of the National Guard of Ukraine for the opportunity to be here. Thank you to all Ukrainians for your courage. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the nation!” — commented the tennis player.

The ceremony took place in Turin, where the Final Tournament is held. In addition to the Ukrainian, Frenchmen Joe-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon, Spaniard Tommy Robredo, German Philippe Kolschreiber, Brazilian Bruno Soares and other tennis players took part in the solemn ceremony.

At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Stakhovsky returned from London to Ukraine and joined the ranks of the army reserve to defend his country. During the first phase of hostilities, he patrolled the streets of Kiev as part of the TRO. He regularly helps the volunteer organization “Come Back Alive”.
