242 days of heroic defense of an important strategic object - Donetsk airport. On January 13, 2014, the control tower fell. Her image has become a symbol of an unbreakable airport.
On January 20, 2015, the fighting for Donetsk airport ended with the complete destruction of the new and old terminals. After all, the militants, taking advantage of the temporary “truce”, replaced all the floors.
Defending Donetsk airport, more than 200 servicemen were killed.
Today we honor the memory of all those who stood up and those who bravely defended the Donetsk airport with their own lives.
“They stood steadfastly under enemy fire. The walls fell. It could not withstand iron and concrete. But they were unbreakable. Cyborgs stood. 242 days of valiant defense. We remember and thank you, Heroes,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko in his Telegram channel.
