Forensic laboratories for rapid DNA analysis are now in all regional departments of the National Police
All regional departments of the National Police of Ukraine are provided with forensic laboratories for express DNA analysis. Another 12 devices for rapid determination of the human DNA profile “ANDE 6C” were provided with the support of the Bureau of International Affairs in the field of Drug Trafficking and Law Enforcement of the US Department of State.
Last year, the American partners already handed over to Ukrainian forensics 20 similar DNA laboratories, which are currently being effectively used in 14 regional units of the National Police of Ukraine and the Main Investigation Department.
Forensics officers of the National Police use “ANDE 6C” to carry out rapid sampling of biological samples directly at the scene. Often at the sites of rocket attacks after fires, only fragments of bodies are found in mass graves, and it is not immediately possible to establish even the number of dead.
Thanks to modern equipment, it became possible to establish the faces of the dead in just an hour and a half, and often with 100 percent efficiency. For example, at the sites of the most massive tragedies, namely as a result of missile strikes of Russians in Kremenchug, Vinnitsa, Uman, in the village of Groza, Kramatorsk, Kupyansk and during the exhumation of bodies at the site of mass burial in Izyum, Kharkiv region, National Police forensic officers It was possible to identify the bodies of all the dead.
The new “ANDE 6C” was presented at the opening of a week-long training for 36 forensic experts and 12 heads of SU GUNP in Cherkasy, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk regions as well as in Kyiv. It is these regions that will be equipped with the received mobile laboratories.
