Jewelry thief and pseudo-volunteer: law enforcement officers detained fraudsters

Law enforcement officers in Odessa region have exposed an intruder who stole jewelry worth almost 50 thousand hryvnias from the home of a 75-year-old Odessa woman. Police have established the identity of the offender. This is a resident of Kiliya AHG. Police detained him in Odessa.

The stolen gold jewelry was laid by the attacker in the pawnshop, where they were sold. The offender spent the money received for his own needs.

The man was informed of the suspicion of committing the offense provided for in Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. We are talking about the secret theft of someone else's property, that is, theft committed repeatedly, with penetration into housing, in conditions of martial law. The offender faces from five to eight years in prison. Currently, he has been selected for a precautionary measure in the form of detention.

Meanwhile, in the Kiev region, a pseudo-volunteer sold medical supplies, blankets, mattresses and other essentials sent in 2022 from abroad. The aid was intended for residents of Irpen, who suffered during the occupation of the city by Russian troops.

Police searched the premises where humanitarian aid was stored. Among those seized are antiseptics, tourniquets, dressing material, medical devices, clothing, baby food, diapers, etc.

Investigative actions are currently being carried out within the framework of open criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal use for the purpose of obtaining profit of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or gratuitous assistance. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to seven years with confiscation of property.
