Cigarette smugglers fled - cigarettes and shoes lost
At midnight in Transcarpathia, border guards spoiled an attempt by smugglers to send a batch of cigarettes to Romania.
During the patrol, the outfit of the “Tyachiv” section of the Mukachevo border detachment noticed a group of people moving towards the state border with packs on their shoulders. Seeing the approaching law enforcement officers, the violators abandoned their carriers and rushed at each other, ignoring the demands of the border guards and, even, warning shots. They ran so much that their shoes were lost.
While inspecting the area, the outfit discovered 12 cigarette boxes wrapped in polyethylene. In the found packages, 7 thousand packs were counted without excise tax stamps.
The search is currently underway for fugitives involved in the detected offense.
