Drug smuggling, conscripts and business organizers: the situation at the border
Border guards at the Tisa checkpoint stopped a cargo vehicle trying to move a batch of tobacco products and possibly narcotic substances from Ukraine to Hungary. During the inspection of the car, signs of interference with the design features were found. So law enforcement conducted an in-depth inspection of the truck using technical equipment and a service dog.
As a result of the inspection, the border guards together with the customs officers found several stashes in the structural cavities of the tractor. First, a batch of tobacco products was found in the double floor. Subsequently, a carefully disguised stash was found in the double bottom, which contained packages with a gray-green substance, probably marijuana.
Meanwhile, in Odessa, border guards together with police officers covered another channel of illegal transportation of persons of conscription age across the state border. Operatives detained the “hot” organizer of the illegal transfer of persons across the state border and two men of conscription age.
The businessman was looking for those who wanted to leave the territory of Ukraine through instant messengers. For his services, he asked for 3 thousand dollars from each. From this money, he had to pay $200 to truckers to transport men of conscription age through the transit section of the Odessa-Reni highway and hand him over to his henchmen for further transfer to the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. In the future, bypassing the checkpoints of the Odessa region, “clients” in the border settlements would have to independently force the border to Moldova.
During the searches, material evidence confirming the illegal activities of the Odessa resident was found and seized from the defendant. Also a cash deposit for the services provided.
In addition, the border guards of the Chop Detachment prevented the illegal intentions of four offenders who tried to penetrate the mountains into Slovakia. Three of the violators moved as part of the group, the fourth headed alone.
All are local residents, citizens of Ukraine of conscription age. The men could not explain the purpose of being at the border. Subsequently, they confessed that they headed up the mountains to Slovakia to get from there to the Czech Republic and Germany, where their fellow villagers live.
Detainees were taken to the border unit in order to clarify all the circumstances of the offense and bring them to administrative responsibility for the attempt to illegally cross the border.
