The commander of the “Omega” group of the NGU — in Severodonetsk there were the fiercest battles of my unit

For 8 years, the soldiers of the special unit of the NGO “OMEGA” have been performing the most risky tasks in the east of Ukraine. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, many recruits, or those who had already served in these units, joined the ranks of individual special purpose units of the National Guard.

One of them is Dmitry. In recent years, he was an officer of the National Police. But the war returned Dmitry to a unit of the National Guard, from which he once began his service in the troops. “This unit raised me, in it I formed as a man, here are my friends,” says the guard.

Dmitry admits that before the full-scale invasion, although he was a policeman, he did not feel the war so acutely. During all the years of service, the man was not in the Donbas, probably because he did not fully understand what was happening there. Everything changed with the beginning of a full-scale invasion. Worried for his family, the man decided to return to the special forces of the National Guard, becoming the commander of a special purpose group formed on the basis of mobilized defenders.

My first battle with the enemy was in the village of Guta Mezhyhirska, there I began to realize what war is. I watched the tactics of the enemy, studied it and learned from it.” The
greatest advantage of the enemy Dmytro considers their early preparation for war and colossal military material resources.

Later, pushing the enemy away from the Kiev direction, the OSP group under the leadership of Dmitry took part in special operations in Severodonetsk and Izyum.

Actually, in Severodonetsk, according to Dmitry, there were the fiercest battles of his group.

This was a difficult task for a fairly small group given the situation, which changed very dynamically over the course of two days. But, at the same time, no one had the desire to retreat, everyone fought like a real warrior. Fortunately, our group got out of town without loss!”
Of course, there were positions in which Dmitry's fighters were wounded, but none objected to holding the dangerous direction to allow other groups and units to finish their work. Now Dmitry, together with his group, performs tasks in the Slavic direction.

It is always scary when there is a danger to life and health, but you need to learn to control these sensations. Perhaps, since the beginning of the war, it was the worst when everyone began to master their fears. Even too brave warriors become passive. This must be prevented in time. It's like in treatment, of course it won't go away. When the battery of self-regulation goes down, a person ceases to control fears and discharges others. Fear is not weakness, it is instinct.”
When war becomes a routine that overshadows vigilance, there is burnout. If a soldier is in fear for 24 hours at 7, under constant artillery fire — exhaustion is inevitable. The military says that self-awareness, concentration and objectivism are essential before any combat withdrawal.

You always have to know yourself and know your brothers in arms. Sun Tzu said that if you know yourself and the enemy, you will win one hundred percent of the battles. If you know yourself, but do not know the enemy, your strength is equal. But if you don't know yourself, but you know the enemy, you always lose.”

The greatest advantage of the Ukrainian army is that it is our Holy War, which obliges us, the Ukrainians, by any means to destroy the enemy and to make it clear for centuries that we are indivisible, that we are a nation that he has underestimated.

From the history of wars, we remember that the side that is on the Holy War is unbreakable and invincible! Today we are guardians of this land, so all responsibility for it is on us.”
