The CMES team with the involvement of doctors with combat experience conducted a training on the provision of pre-medical care
Border guards are constantly improving skills in tactical medicine, bringing them to automatism. Indeed, in the conditions of war, the life of the wounded depends on the actions of the person who provides first aid.
Recently, the team of the Consultative Mission of the European Union in Ukraine, with the involvement of doctors with real combat experience, conducted a training on the provision of home medical care.
“The ECSC supports Ukraine's commitment to reform the civil security sector, especially with a view to obtaining the status of a candidate for accession to the EU. We are here to advise and support the relevant Ukrainian authorities, including the State Border Service, who are doing exemplary work protecting their country. Of course, tactical medicine is now an important component of border guard training and we were pleased to contribute to such training. It is important that everyone is able to provide first aid correctly and know how to save their fellow human beings,” says IMES Senior Advisor on Integrated Border Management Aymar Kosse.
The training of border guards covered the basic training course for the provision of pre-medical care in combat conditions at the level of All Service Members according to NATO algorithms and protocols. They showed in practice how to stop massive bleeding under fire using tourniquets, performed tamponade wounds, applied bandages and bandages.
Staff doctors worked on advanced algorithms for providing medical care. They improved the skills of examining the chest of the injured, carried out the search for wounds that can cause severe pneumothorax, and applied occlusive stickers.
