“When you see broken houses, burned villages and cities, you just steal your heart for our country” - the border guard under the pseudonym “German”
“German” comes from Ivano-Frankivsk region. When the Russian occupiers entered Ukrainian soil in 2014, the fighter immediately joined the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. A soldier as part of a separate combat border command arrived in Donetsk region. The year the border guard, together with his brothers, defended the Holy Land and areas nearby.
Returning from the frontline, the “German” was transferred to one of the capital's airports. The border guard liked the service. He was part of a force support group.
When the enemy entered the Kiev region, the defender stood on its defense. He immediately sent his wife and daughter abroad. Subsequently, the warrior went to the North, and then to the East of the country. The most difficult for the border guard was the Donetsk region.
“When you see broken houses, burned villages and towns, you just steal your heart for our country, for our land. There is only one name left for the forest. It was scary to look at it,” recalls the defender.
The “German”, in addition to the tasks assigned to him, had to properly organize the service of subordinates, because he was the senior of the group of machine gunners. Asked if he planned to return to the front line, the German said: “I have already written the report. Our job is to defend our country.”
Most of all, the fighter dreams of Victory, but he does not just dream, he actively brings her closer, he defends his. And he also wants to finally reunite with a family that he has not seen in almost a year.
