Coin collection, stolen car, counterfeit products and evaders: the situation at the border in a day
Ukrainian border guards continue to effectively counteract illegal migration, smuggling of weapons, drugs, illegal movement of goods across the border.
Thus, the other day at the Uhryniv checkpoint, border guards together with customs officers stopped the attempt to export coin collections to Poland.
A 27-year-old Ukrainian was followed by a passenger of a minibus to a neighboring country. During the inspection, the surveyors, among personal belongings, found about a hundred coins of various denominations, as well as several ancient jewelry.
On this fact, the border guards informed the employees of the National Police. Things that may constitute cultural and historical value are removed. Examination is ongoing.
In addition, yesterday the soldiers of the Lviv Detachment discovered the stolen car.
A resident of Ternopol traveled to a neighboring country by minibus “Mercedes”. During border control, the database worked. As the border guards found out, the vehicle was stolen in France in November last year. Border guards established that the car of Ukrainian registration entered Ukraine before the start of its search.
On this fact, the servicemen immediately informed the Ukrbureau of Interpol in the city. Kyiv and received confirmation of information about the car.
In the end, the vehicle of the year 2018, together with the driver, left the checkpoint along with the employees of the National Police.
And in the capital, border guards exposed counterfeit products worth more than 4 million UAH. So, within the framework of criminal proceedings under Art. 204 Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable goods”, Art. 212 Criminal Code of Ukraine Evasion of taxes, fees (mandatory payments)” operational staff of the Separate checkpoint “Kyiv” together with the detectives of the BEB of Ukraine discovered and seized more than 35 thousand pieces of liquids for electronic cigarettes, almost 1,000 pcs of electronic cigarettes without stamps excise tax, kits for self-mixing liquids, evaporators, components for POD systems, rough accounting and more.
Law enforcers established that this product was intended for further sale on the territory of Ukraine. The full circle of persons involved in this scheme is currently being established.
Such illegal activity led to non-payment of excise tax in particularly large amounts.
But in Transcarpathia during the past day, 8 men intended to cross the border illegally. The border guards of the Mukachevo detachment were hindered by the offenders.
Four of the attackers were detained on the border with Hungary by an outfit from the “Forks” department, which patrolled the river section of the state border with a small border boat. At three o'clock in the morning, the soldiers with the help of a thermal imager recorded the movement of unknown persons towards the river Tisa, through which the border passes, and immediately proceeded to detain them.
Two Transcarpathians and two Zaporizhzhans were detained. The men had with them an inflatable boat “tuned” with foam. According to the idea of the “voyagers”, the foam “supplement” should protect them from drowning, because the sailboat with which they planned to swim the Tisa is not designed to move four adult men. Each of the offenders had to pay their “assistants”, whose persons are currently assigned by the operatives of the unit, each of the offenders was to pay €2000.
Another man, a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, who intended to enter Hungary was detained by the border guards of the Luzhanka department.
The other three assailants — a Transcarpathian, a Donetsk resident and a Dnieper, were detained near the Ukrainian-Romanian border by border outfits from the Deilove and Tyachiv departments.
To clarify all the circumstances and draw up protocols on administrative offenses, Art. 204-1 KUPAP “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine”, detainees were taken to border units. The assessment of their actions will be provided by the court.
In total, on December 20, 81 thousand people and 18 thousand vehicles crossed the western borders of Ukraine with the EU and Moldova.
41 thousand people left Ukraine last day. 24 thousand of them crossed the border with Poland, the rest followed to other EU countries and Moldova.
Over the past day, 40 thousand people followed Ukraine, 36 thousand of them are citizens of Ukraine.
139 trucks with humanitarian aid were also registered.
