The author of the book Timur Nagalevsky shared how it was created.
“The idea of an art book about the Guard of the Offensive belongs to the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko, when a year ago the recruitment campaign to recruit new fighters to the brigades of the Guard of the Offensive was already underway,” the author of the work noted.
According to him, it was then that 9 assault brigades of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (National Guard, National Police and State Border Guard Service) were formed on an open recruitment basis to participate in the armed repulse against the enemy and counterattack of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the East and South.

“The backbone of these brigades at the beginning of creation were experienced fighters with combat experience. So there was a need to present the stories of these heroes in artistic images that would be harmoniously inscribed in real historical events. In particular, at the beginning of a full-scale war — the Battle for Kyiv,” Timur Nagalevsky shared.
The work, according to the ideological task, was to be patriotic. So his leitmotif was the statement of the main character — historian Roman Sokolovsky that history in this war is a weapon. The main character volunteers to the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine and becomes a self-seer of the events of the current Great War, which he interprets as a continuation of the national liberation struggle of Ukrainians for his own Freedom and State Independence.
The novel has a detective and love line, in addition, various periods from the history of Ukraine are presented: from ancient times and Kievan Rus through the era of Cossacks and national liberation competitions of the First and Second World Wars and up to the present day.
The author, together with the creative team of the Department of Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, collected and carefully recorded the life stories of real war heroes, visiting the bases and parts of the brigades of the Offensive Guard. Further, the collected stories formed the basis of the images of the heroes of the novel.
Unique is the illustrative component of the novel. It was created by artist Daria Kopiyka in the format of collages, which are built on the basis of real photographs and stories of warrior-heroes, their life principles and values, hobbies, emotions, love and hatred.
Thus, on the idea and with the support of the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko, a book was created, which won the relevant competition of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and was published for libraries of the Miniature system and libraries of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
