Kyiv metro continues to provide shelter to citizens in cases of air alarm
Since the beginning of the Russian aggression and the obvious threat to the people of Kiev, the subway has worked only in the format of a reliable bomb shelter. After the defeat of the aggressor near Kiev and the retreat in the Kiev direction, the metro stations began to work for their intended purpose — this was learned by foreign and domestic journalists during the press-ups to the metro station “Druzhby Narodiv”, organized by the Directorate of Information Provision and Access to Public Information of the State Administration of the State Administration of Ukraine, and the Department of Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
From the first day of the Russian aggression, the police department officers in the metro of the GUNP of Ukraine in the city. Kiev was served in a strengthened mode and together with subway workers tried to create conditions for the safe stay of citizens at metro stations.
With the change in the format of the subway and the gradual return of this important transport component of the city to the standard work schedule, little has changed in the subway police — they continue to carry out thorough checks of passengers, prevent violations of public order and take care of the safety of citizens seeking safety during air alarms.
Police officers note an increase in the consciousness of citizens and a certain rearrangement of all social relations into “military rails”. No one is surprised by the requirements of the police, dictated by security algorithms at important infrastructure facilities. In the absolute majority, citizens go to meet police officers and fulfill the requirements of law enforcement officers.
According to the head of KP “Kyiv Metro” Viktor Braginsky, now the metro performs a dual function. Every day, the Kiev subway carries up to 250 thousand passengers and this figure will increase due to the reduction of train travel intervals. At the same time, the bomb shelter function remains behind metro stations, as the enemy continues to attack Ukrainian cities.
