Cyber police exposed attacker for pseudo-sale of military ammunition

The defendant appropriated about half a million hryvnias on the sale of non-existent military goods on the Internet. After receiving a subscription from customers, the attacker disappeared.

The Internet fraud scheme was exposed by the cyber police of Ternopil region together with the investigators of the Ternopil District Police Department.

The 32-year-old resident of Lviv region posted ads on social networks and messengers about the sale of military uniforms, body armor, helmets, medical first aid kits, etc. The man convinced the buyers of the availability of the selected positions and demanded a subscription. Having received the money, the defendant did not fulfill his duties and further blocked customers.

In this way, the attacker appropriated the funds of more than 30 victims. The total amount of losses reaches half a million hryvnias.

In order to hide illegal activities, the man regularly changed his place of residence. Investigative actions were carried out by law enforcement officers in one of the hostels in Ternopol, where the intruder temporarily lived.

Criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Procedural management is carried out by the Ternopil District Prosecutor's Office.
