Cyber police exposed a criminal group of fraudsters who sold non-existent military goods
From buyers, attackers took a full subscription, but they did not fulfill their obligations. For their actions, they can face up to eight years in prison.
The activities of the criminal group were exposed by employees of the Kyiv Cybercrime Office together with the investigators of the capital police. The organizer - a 19-year-old resident of Kiev, involved three of his friends in illegal activities. The men posted ads on the messenger channel about the sale of military ammunition, including body armor and helmets.
From buyers, attackers demanded full payment to bank cards, and after receiving the money disappeared. The total amount of damage caused to the victim reaches 150 thousand hryvnias. At the places of residence of the intruders, law enforcement officers conducted searches and seized mobile phones and bank cards.
Criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to eight years in prison. The organizer of the criminal scheme is notified of the suspicion, the issue of declaring suspicion to his accomplices is being resolved.
Procedural management is carried out by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
