Cyber police of Odessa region exposed a group of intruders in the production of forged documents of the state model

The defendants made fake driver's licenses, car registration certificates, medical certificates for drivers and notarized powers of attorney on request. Monthly “earnings” of attackers reached 5 million hryvnias.

 

The scheme of production and sale of fake documents was exposed by the cyber police of the Odessa region together with the investigators of the Main Directorate of the Regional Police.

The criminal group consisted of 12 people. Offenders in social networks, messengers and on various web resources offered customers the production of fake documents. The grouping “specialized” on driver's licenses, vehicle registration certificates, medical certificates for drivers and notarized powers of attorney.

 

The cost of services ranged from 4 to 9 thousand hryvnias. Monthly estimated earnings of the defendants amounted to about 5 million hryvnias. The money earned by the attackers was converted into cryptocurrency.

Law enforcement officers conducted more than 20 searches and seized equipment necessary for the production of fictitious documents, about 500 “blanks” for future fakes, bank and SIM cards, hologram tapes, three cars and about 1.5 million hryvnias in cash. Also during the searches, police seized ready-to-sell counterfeits documents.

Criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 3 of Art. 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps), part 3 of Art. 199 (Manufacture, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, import into Ukraine for use in the sale of goods, sale or sale of counterfeit money, state securities existing in paper form, state lottery tickets, excise tax stamps or holographic protective elements), h. 2 st. 361 (Unauthorized interference in the work of information (automated), electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Four defendants have already been charged with suspicion. Three organizers were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of reporting the suspicion to other members of the group is currently being resolved.

Attackers face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.

Procedural management is carried out by the prosecutor's office of the Odessa region.
