Cyber police warn against phone scammers posing as bank employees
Cyberspace is another front where the enemy sneakily and insidiously attacks Ukrainians. Telephone fraud remains at the top of the most common schemes of scammers. We remind you of the basic rules, how not to become victims of such schemes.
“Your card is blocked”, “Suspicious transaction from your account”, “We carry out customer verification”, “New rules during martial law” — attackers use different ways to gain access to citizens' bank data.
The most savvy can use spoofing technology to change the phone number. On the other end of the “wire” there may even be an occupier, and the Ukrainian number of the bank, pension fund, tax, police, etc. will be displayed on the screen of your gadget.
Remember that whoever the interviewer is by phone and whatever reasons he calls, never report your bank card data, especially CVV, card expiration, one-time passwords from SMS, data for authorization in online banking. Even in conditions of war, real bank employees, or employees of government agencies do not request such information.
For payments or transfers, use only proven services and disable the ability to remotely replace the SIM card from your mobile operator.
Does your bank offer a dynamic CVV feature? Do not neglect such an offer.
