Cyberpolice exposed a fraudster who sold non-existent generators

The defendant, while in custody, searched citizens for almost 100 thousand hryvnias. He posted fake ads on the Internet about the sale of goods and appropriated customers' subscriptions. Law enforcement officers declared him a suspect.

The 35-year-old man was exposed by the officers of the Zaporizhzhia Cyberpolice together with the investigators of the police department No. 2 of the Zaporizhzhya district police department, operatives of the State Institution “Zaporizhzhya Investigative Isolator” and employees of the Department of Criminal Punishment of the Ministry of Justice.

An attacker on ad platforms offered to supply generators from abroad. The condition was a full or partial subscription, which he received to controlled bank accounts. As soon as the buyers transferred the money, the villain ceased contact with them and did not fulfill the obligations.

In this way, the fraudster appropriated about 100 thousand hryvnias. The man engaged in illegal activities while in custody for committing property crimes.

In the institution of execution of sentences, law enforcement officers conducted a search and seized a mobile phone.

The attacker was declared a suspect in accordance with Part 3 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

A similar scheme of fraud was also exposed by employees of the Rivne region cyberpolice. There, a group of intruders, while in a detention center, searched citizens for the sale of non-existent tobacco products.

Cyberpolice recommend choosing only proven resources for online shopping and giving preference to after-payment purchases, so as not to fall victim to such schemes. And urges not to disclose bank card data to third parties, especially the validity period and CVV code.
