Cyberpolice exposed a group of attackers who asked for money to be borrowed
To implement the criminal scheme, the defendants created fake pages of the messenger users and asked their friends to borrow money. In this way, the attackers managed to seize more than 300 thousand hryvnias.
The criminal offense was exposed by the officers of the Cybercrime Office of the Dnipropetrovsk region together with the employees of the investigative department of the Dnipropetrovsk region police.
Six citizens, residents of Kamianske and Verkhivtsevo, searched the messenger for open group chats and created fake pages of participants. Further, from the clone accounts, they wrote to other chat participants asking them to borrow money or allegedly join a charity rally for the military.
In this way, the attackers searched about 70 people. The total amount of losses is more than 300 thousand hryvnias.
In order not to suffer from similar schemes, the cyber police recommend that citizens configure privacy settings in instant messengers.
