Cyber-police of the Carpathians exposed a fraudster who created fake ads about raising funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The man created fake ads on social networks about allegedly raising funds for the needs of the Armed Forces. Criminal activity of the agent was documented by cyber police officers in Ivano-Frankivsk region, criminal investigation department operatives and investigators of the Dolyna police department.
Law enforcement officials found that a 32-year-old resident of the city of Dolyna created fake pages on the social network Facebook and published in various groups announcements about helping the Armed Forces under the pretext of a vehicle accident, and cheated people out of money in the form of a deposit.
The man searched at least 20 citizens who, wanting to help the Armed Forces, transferred to the fraudster about 50 thousand hryvnias. The final number of victims and the amount obtained by criminal means are currently being established by law enforcement officers.
During the search of the defendant's residence, mobile phones, SIM cards, bank payment cards, draft records, cash and other physical evidence of his criminal activities were found and seized.
The man does not have a permanent job and has not previously been convicted. Fake pages and ads have already been removed by law enforcement.
At present, the agent has been notified of suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in Part 2 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation continues.
