Cyberpolice of Dnipropetrovsk region exposed a group of attackers
The defendants searched citizens for more than 1 million hryvnias. To do this, they created pages of fake stores on social networks and offered pseudo-rental housing. The attackers were suspected.
The fraud scheme was exposed by the employees of the Cyber Crime Control Department in the Dnipropetrovsk region together with the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Regional State Administrative Service and in cooperation with the employees of the Sberbank security service.
Three residents of Kamiansky created more than a dozen shop pages in social networks. Offered motor vehicles, mobile phones, generators, etc. Also, the attackers allegedly provided rental services at ski resorts in western Ukraine. For goods and services, prepayment was taken to controlled bank accounts, but later they stopped communicating with customers.
In this way, the defendants searched more than a hundred citizens. The total amount of losses is more than 1.2 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers conducted 13 searches of the places of residence of intruders and in their cars. Removed laptops, mobile phones, bank cards, SIM cards, “rough” records. Employees of the special police regiment were also involved in the investigation.
Two defendants were declared a suspect in accordance with Part 3 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect faces up to eight years in prison. The issue of declaring suspicion to their accomplice is being resolved. Investigative actions continue. Procedural management is carried out by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
