This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky in the live broadcast of the program “Details of the Week” on the TV channel “Inter”.

“The cyberattack, which took place on the night of January 13-14, was one of the largest in recent years. It was directed to 70 state institutions and government bodies. This actually indicates that this attack was massive, coordinated and, according to our experts in cyberpolice, the SBU and the State Security Service, was not aimed at encrypting data for further sale, namely to destroy this data. That is why we can claim that this cyber attack was carried out by the special services of our neighbor, the aggressor state,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed that this is no longer the first cyberattack that was carried out on state bodies and institutions. The minister confirmed that the Diya portal is normal and could not be hacked.

“Regarding the cyber attack on the state portal “Diia”, I can say that the data was not damaged. Such conclusions were provided by our cyber police specialists. They analyzed the data that seemed to be offered from the Diya portal. This turned out to be completely different data and it was not a flood of information. This information was already known, offered and sold before 2019, so the attackers did not get anything new,” the Minister of Internal Affairs noted.

Denis Monastyrsky stressed that “Diia” is a portal that gives access to other state resources, which in themselves have a system complex of information protection. At the moment, information about individuals is not at risk.

“Many more people are at risk of personal negligence, when attackers can see the PIN code, the date of issue of the card, the secret code, or use the phone to lure the data to withdraw funds from the cards of Ukrainians. Unfortunately, over the past year, hundreds of millions of hryvnias were withdrawn in this way,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

In addition, the minister spoke about typical fraudulent schemes, namely, sites where products are offered that simply do not exist in reality.

“Citizens transfer funds to the account, after which fraudsters cut off contact with them and they turn to the cyber police. We, of course, expose all sites, demand that they be closed, but they appear again and again. Therefore, first of all, Ukrainians need to be careful with the transfer of personal data and to perform basic actions that will protect against most of the dangers that can be expected in cyberspace.

Recall that the information about the data leak from the portal “Action” is not true.

In addition, the cyber police, the State Special Communications Service and the Security Service of Ukraine, together with international experts, establish the sources of origin of cyber attacks on state websites.
