Then the world was saved by the humanity and good hearts of millions of ordinary people - firefighters, policemen, doctors, military. Most of them are among veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And today we honor the memory of those who are no longer with us,” the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
The day of commemoration of participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP was established in Ukraine on November 10, 2006. It is celebrated annually on December 14, the day of the end of the construction of the sarcophagus over the destroyed fourth power unit of the Chernobyl NPP.
The Chernobyl disaster, which occurred in April 1986, is considered the largest man-made accident in the world. The safety of not only Ukraine depended on the people who were liquidating the consequences of explosions at the nuclear reactor. Therefore, every year we pay tribute to the liquidators.
