Investigators have completed a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the fact of mistreatment of civilians by a 30-year-old serviceman of the 74th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation.
During the investigation, the police established that the crimes took place in early March 2022 in the territory of the Chernihiv region. Then the armed Russian military detained a civilian local resident of the village of Sloboda.
In order to obtain information about the possible cooperation of the man with the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the victim was injured and the security forces took him to the village of Shestovytsya. There, the victim was illegally kept in improper sanitary and temperature conditions: with his hands tied with wire, put behind his back, even at night at an air temperature below 0 degrees Celsius.
The man was not provided with medical care, mental abuse and torture were carried out against him: the suspected Russian placed the barrel of a machine gun to the victim's temple, drove a knife blade across his face and threatened to kill. At the same time, the representative of the occupying forces insulted, morally humiliated and constantly threatened the victim.
According to the totality of the crimes committed, the military of the Russian Federation was notified of suspicion of mistreatment of the civilian population and other violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The materials of the criminal proceedings with the indictment were transferred to the court for consideration.
