Tortured and did not let a woman with children out of the house for five days: in Chernihiv region police detained a suspect in crimes
Around midnight on August 3, the police received a message from the paramedic of the Korop community, who said that a local resident with two children came to her. There were numerous bodily injuries and traces of torture on the body of the woman and her children.
A police investigative task force, juvenile prevention officers and social services immediately arrived at the scene. Police immediately placed the woman and her children in the hospital.
The victim told police that on July 28, she and her children passed by a neighbor's yard. The children reached over the fence and plucked 4 peaches from a neighboring tree. At home, her drunken roommate found out about it and decided to punish the children. The angry man beat the children, and then their mother.
For several days, the abuser continued to drink alcohol, did not let a woman with children out of the house and bullied them in every way: brutally beat, insulted, and shaved their hair on their own. The intruder took the phone from the roommate, so she could not call 102. Only on the night of August 3, the victims were able to escape from the house and immediately ran to the paramedics.
Now the woman with the children are in the hospital, psychologists and youth prevention staff are working with them. It is known that the family was not on the records of the police. Previously, there were no statements or complaints about the roommate from the woman.
The police detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Police investigators under the procedural guidance of the Novgorod-Seversky District Prosecutor's Office qualify the actions of the offender under Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (torture). The detainee faces imprisonment for up to six years.
During the pre-trial investigation, additional legal qualification of the defendant's actions is possible.
