Tortured, poured with fuel and demanded money: Kiev police detained a group of robbers
The criminal group committed a series of attacks on the owners of private estates in the Buchansky and Brovary districts. Armed with automatic rifles and pistols, the criminals tore into the estates at night, bound and muzzled people.
The organizer of the group was a 29-year-old resident of the capital, who was wanted for banditry and theft of vehicles. He committed robbery attacks together with two henchmen.
So, in Irpen, intruders broke into the house of a 70-year-old local resident, began to beat mercilessly, threaten and demand money. The robbers interrupted the whole house, took the cash and disappeared.
In the village of Krasylivka, criminals committed a robbery attack on the family of an entrepreneur when they were resting in the evening. Armed intruders struck the homeowner, threatened to cut off his ears, and later poured fuel and threatened to set him on fire. After the family gave up all their savings, they left the house.
Police of Kyiv region detained robbers in Khmelnytsky region, just before they were preparing to carry out another attack. Two people are currently in detention, the third member of a criminal group, who is abroad, has been reported on suspicion in absentia.
In the course of 14 authorized searches, police seized automatic weapons, grenades, shackles, plastic clamps, door openers, bank cards, robberies, and other physical evidence.
On the fact of robbery aimed at seizing property in large or especially large sizes, committed by an organized group in conditions of martial law, combined with the infliction of grievous bodily harm, the investigators opened criminal proceedings (Part 4 of Art. 187 KKU).
The defendants face up to 15 years in prison.
