Kateryna Pavlichenko: Which schools will start working offline and in which regions will depend on the security situation in the region
This was announced today, August 15, during a briefing by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to Ekaterina Pavlichenko, to start studying offline there are a number of requirements that educational institutions must fulfill. Specialists from the State Emergency Service and the National Police as part of special commissions inspected more than 80 percent of educational institutions in Ukraine. According to the results of these surveys, more than 40 percent of educational institutions are ready to start offline training on safety indicators.
“Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is taking all measures to create a safe environment. However, local self-government bodies, taking into account the security situation in a particular region, independently decide to start full-time training,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs noted.
She stressed that since there is now no completely safe place in Ukraine, even in those schools that will go to study, it is necessary to strengthen security measures.
To do this, the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducts preventive measures. A responsible official from the State Emergency Service is assigned to each educational institution. 69 “safety classes” have been created on the territory of Ukraine, 48 of which are based on general educational institutions. This is a joint project of the SNS and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aimed at studying the basics of civil protection and life safety.
Also, Ekaterina Pavlichenko reminded about the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Educator of Security”, which is planned to be scaled up in the future.
“I am convinced that the project will become part of the large project “Safe Country”, which is currently being prepared at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is currently being piloted and we will look to adjust the program to improve it and give specialists more tools that they will need in the regions. There are also issues of civil protection, and combating bullying and harassment in schools, that is, a whole range of security issues that the specialist will emphasize, identify and transfer to police units, the State Emergency Service in order to correct the situation,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs added.
The safety educator must cooperate with the school administration, which must develop a security passport with a list of problematic issues. On these issues, the specialist should primarily focus attention in order to further monitor.
