Ekaterina Pavlichenko: Every third leading position in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is occupied by a woman
An online conference organized by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security was held. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kateryna Pavlichenko discussed with the participants of the event the role of Ukrainian women in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the repulse of Russian aggression.
“Law enforcement officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are ready to resist any threats and protect the rights of citizens,” the Deputy Minister noted.
The main activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is the observance and protection of women's rights. The involvement of women in law enforcement and peacekeeping is an indicator of gender equality in the security sphere and contributes to increasing the level of trust on the part of society. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is constantly working to increase the number of women in leadership positions.
“We are seeing a positive trend of increasing the number of women police officers and servicemen in the officer staff, as well as women in leadership positions. In particular, in the apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the percentage of women in senior positions is 34%, that is, currently every third woman in the Ministry of Internal Affairs is a head,” Ekaterina Pavlichenko stressed. Currently, the percentage of female officers in the State Fiscal Service is 19%.
The percentage of female officers in the NGU is 10%, in the NPU - 20%. The
Deputy Minister thanked the European and international community for the support and exchange of experience in the issues of involving women in peace-building processes, consolidated position in promoting the expansion of their participation in the security and defense sector.
