Paintings on ammunition boxes and necklaces from military uniforms: the Ministry of Internal Affairs held the exhibition “Military Field Art”
The event was also attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko.
The idea to create exhibits from war attributes originated in 2014, and already in 2015, Pavel Rotar, a senior sergeant of the National Police of Ukraine from the Kiev Regiment, made his dream a reality.
It was in the combat zone that Pavel Rotar became interested in the used attributes of war: boxes from under ammunition, various shells and tubes from grenade launchers. At the same time, Paul had the idea to turn it all into art objects, combining war stuff with traditional art.
Senior Sergeant of the National Police Pavlo Rotar showed the exhibits to the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenka and told short stories of the creation of each of them.
Pavel Rotar said that in total he managed to hold 40 such exhibitions, one of the last was in peaceful Lisichansk, in Luhansk region. More than 300 exhibits remain in the local museum, the fate of which at this time is unknown.
Currently, Paul has a collection of 35 exhibits.
Folk craftsmen who managed to breathe new life into sleeves, boxes, old military camouflage, turning them into toys, woven carpets, painted chests, jewelry, paintings and motanka dolls are helping Pavel Rotar to implement the project “Military Field Art”.
Despite the war, they continue to work on new, no less striking exhibits.
“Since August last year, I began to gradually renew this project. Again, he called the craftsmen who had previously created the objects, and attracted new ones. Now there are about 35 exhibits, and more than 40 in the works,” says Pavel.
Pavel Rotar could not choose his favorite exhibit. He admits that each of them is like a child in whom he has invested his soul.
