Canada will allocate an additional 7.5 million Canadian dollars for mining and training of Ukrainian specialists
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Melanie Zholi during a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko.
First of all, Igor Klimenko thanked the Government of Canada for the powerful assistance provided since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
“We are connected not only by the large Ukrainian diaspora, but also by joint projects, from the development of the patrol police and the reform of the National Police until now, when you support us during the war,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Melanie Jolie assured that Canada will continue to help Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor and will do everything possible so that our country can overcome the consequences of the war and be able to develop further.
“Canada was one of the first to provide significant financial assistance to Ukraine. And we will continue to do this until your victory,” said the Canadian foreign minister.
The parties discussed urgent needs and problems for which the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine needs the assistance and assistance of international partners. In particular, Igor Klymenko informed about the creation of combat units of the “Guard of Offensive” in the structure of the department, which will take part in the liberation of the Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories.
The traditional area of cooperation, in which our Canadian allies are materially and actively involved, is the training of Ukrainian personnel of pyrotechnics and specialists of the explosion service, as well as the technical support of humanitarian demining of our territories.
Igor Klymenko noted that in order to return a full life to the de-occupied territories, in particular agricultural land, it is necessary to clean them of explosive objects. But for this there is still a lack of trained personnel and relevant equipment, in particular heavy and robotic.
In turn, Melanie Joly assured that the topic of demining in Ukraine will remain in the focus of the priorities of Canadian aid:
“Canada will allocate an additional 7.5 million Canadian dollars for the demining of Ukrainian territories, in particular for training your specialists. In this work, you can count on us.”
Separately, the parties discussed the possible further development of joint projects on the treatment, prosthetics and rehabilitation of our military and law enforcement officers — war veterans.
