Campaign to collect DNA samples from Ukrainians abroad: 164 biological samples were handed over to investigators in a week
Last month, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko announced the start of a campaign to collect DNA samples from Ukrainians abroad. Biological material is used to search for and identify individuals missing under special circumstances. They started with Poland and Germany, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in his Telegram channel.
During the week of work (from November 28 to December 5), specialists of the International Commission on Missing Persons collected 164 biological samples and handed them to investigators to the National Police. Currently, expert research is ongoing.
“We will have the results in about a month. This experience of cooperation has shown its effectiveness. So we will continue this process and we are already developing new schedules for the selection of DNA material in Ukrainians who are forced to stay abroad,” Ihor Klymenko stressed.
