The European Union and the IOM have developed safety rules for internally displaced persons

The European Union, together with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, launched an all-Ukrainian communication campaign dedicated to the safety of internally displaced persons. As of the end of April, there were 7.7 million of them. Obviously, their number will grow.

The purpose of the campaign is to draw people's attention to the possible risks associated with moving from war-affected regions, to explain the basic safety rules when searching for housing, transport, work. After all, the extreme vulnerability of people can lead to various forms of fraud and exploitation, and even to cases of human trafficking.

As part of the campaign, a series of information materials have been developed to help IDPs avoid these risks. The organizers urge to remember 5 safety markers — rules that should be followed in different situations.

Documents. Provide documents only to officials. Make and keep copies of the most important documents in advance, including online.

Transport. Know where you are going and let family or friends know about the trip. Do not get in the car to strangers or suspicious people. Send your family or friends the number of the vehicle you are traveling in.

Help. Accept help only from people and organizations that are trustworthy.

Communication. Do not give anyone a mobile phone or other means of communication. Be cautious and cautious when dealing with strangers.
