Yevgeny Yenin: About 20,000 educational institutions need shelter equipment
First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin joined the live broadcast of the All-Ukrainian Telemarathon Uatogether, during which he spoke about the preparation of educational institutions for the new school year.
Yevgeny Yenin stated that in recent years, the challenges that constantly arose before the state and society did not allow to fully establish the process of education in higher educational institutions and schools. At first it was COVID-19, and now - a full-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine. But at the present moment, in accordance with the instructions of the President and the Head of Government, the task is to resume the educational process in as many educational institutions as possible. Therefore, the Ministry of the Interior recently launched the project “Safe Educational Environment”.
The project started just a week ago and there are already first developments. Commissions have been created and operate in all regions, in which specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are involved. Almost 3000 educational institutions have their own civil protection facilities, which can shelter more than 1 million people. About the same number of institutions conducted a commission survey and organized shelters in dual-purpose buildings.
Yevgeny Yenin noted that the specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are open to interaction and assistance to participants in the educational process within the limits of their competence. At the same time, he noted that permission to open establishments will not be granted if they do not comply with safety criteria and requirements.
“According to local authorities, about 20,000 establishments of all levels and forms of ownership need shelter equipment. We are talking about the safety of more than 7.5 million people — participants in the educational process. Of course, there are regions where it will be extremely difficult to restore the learning process due to the tense security situation. For example, I was in Kharkiv region the other day and in conditions where the time of the projectiles is up to forty seconds, there is no need to talk about offline training,” the First Deputy Minister noted.
He also named the areas where the largest number of institutions are now prepared for the new school year in terms of safety. This is Ternopil region - 45% of educational institutions with 56% of participants in the educational process are provided with shelters, Rivne region - 30% of educational institutions are provided with shelters with 37% of participants in the educational process in them. Transcarpathia 30% and 30% respectively. In Kyiv, 40% of educational institutions have shelters with 15% of participants in the educational process in them.
Also, the representatives of the State Emergency Service together with the National Police conducted more than 3500 evacuation trainings in educational institutions.
