Since the start of operation of the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, 5475 applications for the issuance of extracts have been registered.

This registry is a fully secure database. And certain officials have access to it: representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, employees of the National Police and the Department of Informatization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Record cards are formed on the basis of applications submitted by relatives of the missing to the National Police. And the verification of each person is carried out directly by the Office of the Commissioner for Missing Persons.

Also, a statement on the search for a missing person under special circumstances, according to Art. 18 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Legal Status of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances” may be submitted not only by a relative of such person, but also by a representative of a military formation, a state authority, a local self-government body, a public association or any other person who has become aware of the disappearance. And the commissioner of the missing is missing, if they contact him with a report of disappearance.

Extracts from the Unified Register are provided by representatives of the Department of Informatization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. To receive the document, you need to contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs (send by mail to the address of Kyiv, ul. Bogomoletsa, 10, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, or to e-mail [email protected]) with your own request and copies of documents proving the identity of the applicant and the degree of kinship with the missing person.

According to Art. 11 of the said Law, the powers of the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances include communicating with relatives of persons missing under special circumstances, and providing them with information on the status of the search and its results, within the limits specified by law.

If an error is found in the data of the wanted person on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the section “Missing citizens and children” or in the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, it is necessary to contact the unit of the National Police, to which the search application was submitted, or to the Secretariat of the Commissioner.
