This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in an interview with Ukrinform. He also spoke about what information will be contained in the Register, the algorithm of actions of citizens during the registration of weapons and the obligations assumed after acquiring ownership of firearms.

According to Igor Bondarenko, according to the Regulation on the Unified Register of Weapons, he will systematize all processes of the use of firearms in order to prevent their illegal circulation.

“The licensing and registration activities will be improved, the processes of formation, issuance and accounting of permits for weapons will be automated, and appropriate electronic services for citizens and business entities will be created. In particular, the functionality of the Register provides for the creation of an electronic cabinet of the gun owner, through which a person can submit an application for the purchase and storage of weapons, carry out data updates and carry out other mandatory procedures,” said Igor Bondarenko.

The Registry is currently running in test mode. After its introduction into industrial operation, developers will receive a corresponding certificate of protection of the system from unauthorized access - the so-called certificate of conformity of the SSSI, which is issued by the State Special Communications Service.

“Even if in the near future the relevant law is not adopted, and the departmental by-laws are not changed, we will launch the Unified Register of Weapons into industrial operation with the set of services that are ready and possible at this time. That is, it can fully work already at the end of October and citizens can see information about themselves in it, understand the relevance of deadlines for documents, receive new services, etc.,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized.

The algorithm for registering weapons is similar to the process of registering a vehicle and obtaining a driver's license.

“To become a gun owner, a person must undergo training, pass an exam that he understands the design features of weapons, the rules for handling and using them. Then buys a unit of weapons, which is accordingly recorded in the Register. When he becomes the owner of a weapon, he receives certain responsibilities - to carry out the next shot in a timely manner, to submit this weapon for inspection on demand, etc. In the Registry, all these processes are shown. This gives us the opportunity to effectively control the circulation of weapons, and the citizen to receive high-quality modern services online,” Ihor Bondarenko summed up.
