The story of a border guard who returned from abroad to defend Ukraine
Igor Shchyrovsky has 14 years of service and combat experience in the area of the Joint Forces.
After years of service, in 2018, the officer resigned from the ranks of the State Border Guard Service in reserve and went abroad to work as a trucker. Nevertheless, on February 24, the news of the invasion of Russia forced him to return without hesitation to stand in defense of his native Motherland.
“On February 24, at about 3:30am, I was already at work, after 30 minutes my wife called and said that the war had begun. I was ashamed to go to Europe... I called my manager and said that I would go home because of the situation in the state. And it was decided to go for mobilization in the ranks of the State Border Guard Service,” Igor says.
