Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Akopian met in Kyiv with the German delegation as part of the Head of the Integrated Response Hub for Assistance to Ukraine under the Foreign Ministry of Germany Urs Frühauf, Head of the Department of Stabilization of Countries and Regions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Katrin Buchholholm C and representatives of the German Embassy in our country.

During the event, the practical content and priorities of the newly created Integrated Response Hub for assistance to Ukraine were discussed.

First, Mary Akopyan told the partners about the current situation with the intensification of terrorist attacks by Russian invaders on critical, in particular energy infrastructure, the threat of a country-wide global blackout, the situation at the front and the needs of the departmental sector subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs ri. In particular, it was about the constant and growing need for special equipment and equipment both to eliminate the consequences of shelling and other extraordinary events by the forces of the units of the State Emergency Service, and in the context of documenting war crimes committed by the aggressor in Ukraine.

Particularly relevant is the problem of identifying the bodies of unidentified victims of war — namely more than 2.3 thousand dead — for which appropriate molecular genetic examination equipment is required. And it is the German partners who are already providing Ukraine with significant technical assistance in properly providing specialized laboratories with modern equipment and reagents. However, further targeted partner assistance is needed here.

Another extremely important area in which the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine need significant partner support is the humanitarian demining of de-occupied territories.

“In particular, the work of our pyrotechnicians will be significantly accelerated and will reach a qualitatively higher level if institutions such as the German Integrated Response Hub contribute to the arrival of special pyrotechnic equipment in our country. The vehicle fleet of the organs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, measured in thousands of units, is in need of updating and significantly damaged by enemy shelling. Therefore, partner assistance in organizing proper mobility of units of internal affairs bodies is extremely important and expected especially in the context of the functionality of the National Guard, the National Police and the State Border Service,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs noted.
