Today, on April 13, the Lviv State University of Life Safety hosted a graduation ceremony for cadets of specialised universities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The event was attended by Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

From now on, 426 young professionals will join the ranks of rescuers to serve the people of Ukraine.

These include 125 graduates of the Lviv State University of Life Safety, 180 graduates of the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine and 121 graduates of the Cherkasy Institute of Fire Safety named after the Heroes of Chornobyl.

"Today, more than 82% of citizens place their trust in our rescuers. And I am proud of each and every one of you who serve in the SESU units in the regions of our country. Because it is you who come to the aid of our citizens. And the pure white gloves you are wearing today represent only one thing - your pure and untarnished conscience, your thoughts and desire to help," said Ihor Klymenko in his address to the graduates.

The event was also attended by delegations from the Baltic States - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, headed by the Ministers of Internal Affairs - Agnė Bilotaitė, Rihards Kozlovkis, Lauri Läänemets, who arrived in Lviv to meet with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.

The young lieutenants were also greeted by Andrii Danyk, the acting Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and the representatives of local authorities.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine awarded the Denys Monastyrskyi Scholarship to five graduates of SESU higher education institutions for their outstanding academic achievements and demonstrated scientific skills.

"I know that for you, serving the Ukrainian people is a conscious and responsible life choice. You must always stand ready to help and fulfil your most important task - to save and protect human life. I believe that in such a difficult time for the country, you will not fail and will fulfil all the tasks entrusted to you," said, Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

After the ceremony, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine showed the international partners the classrooms where future rescuers are learning new skills. In particular, Ihor Klymenko showed the international delegation the Rescue Training Centre, where cadets practice unblocking victims of road accidents and rescuing them in various ways in emergency situations.

The Ministers of Internal Affairs also visited the Demining Laboratory, where cadets work with various types of simulators to detect and dispose of explosive ordnance.

"It is the demining of our country that will allow us to boost the economy, including the agricultural sector. Today, about 156,000 square kilometres of our territory are mined. However, we are constantly working to improve the work of EOD experts and train new groups of EOD experts," said Ihor Klymenko.
