Igor Klymenko: The success of the operation in one direction or another depends on each military
This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs during an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering questions about the training of soldiers of the assault brigades of the “Guard of Offensive”.
The head of the department Igor Klymenko said that eight brigades have already been fully formed. Recently, the “Offensive Guard” was replenished with another brigade — the “Charter”:
“We are rearming the brigades that have already been formed, they will undergo appropriate training — it is 2-3 weeks, and in parallel we are starting to form additional units. The task of each of these brigades is to conduct appropriate offensive and offensive actions together with the Defence Forces during military operations.
The Minister of the Interior stressed that the role of the people who volunteered in the assault brigades would be significant in the future counteroffensive.
“That's how we teach. Because the success of the operation in one direction or another will depend on each brigade, on each unit, on each soldier and policeman,” said Igor Klymenko.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that some units of the “Offensive Guard” were formed from scratch, and some — already on the basis of the existing ones, with the established structure, primarily logistical:
“In such cases, the backbone of the brigade for success was formed precisely from soldiers and policemen with combat experience. These people are just teaching volunteers — young people who first came to the ranks of the brigades. Also, experienced fighters act as commanders in the fields of activity and in the future conduct of combat operations.”
Igor Klymenko emphasizes that it is difficult to train a commander — it is always a long time, and he is limited in our country, so the department relied on employees with combat experience and unit management experience.
