Igor Klymenko: Ukraine is an outpost of the whole of Europe, which has been resisting a strong enemy for two years

This was emphasized by the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko during negotiations with the Czech delegation headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Vit Rakushan. The meeting took place on the basis of Lviv Service 112, where partners were able to get acquainted with the work of the Center.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the people and the Government of the Czech Republic have been fully supporting our country. These are important defense packages, humanitarian, medical aid, economic support and sanctions pressure on Russia. Thank you, Minister, for supporting us at the level of the entire Government. I also want to express my gratitude for the political solidarity of the Czech Republic in achieving full membership of Ukraine in the European Union and NATO,” said Igor Klymenko.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic Vit Rakushan assured that official Prague will continue to provide Ukraine with all necessary assistance on the way to Victory:

“On behalf of my people and the Government, I want to declare that we will continue to support Ukraine on this path. For us, there is only one outcome — and that is your victory. I want to assure you that this is the long-term position of my Government, because you are fighting for our common European values.”

Also Vit Rakushan said that more than 70% of the Czech people supported Ukraine during the war. It is about housing, financial and humanitarian support.

Separately, the parties raised the issue of improving migration legislation, because, according to the Czech side, there are more than 500 thousand Ukrainians in the Czech Republic, 380 thousand of whom have arrived in the country since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Also, Igor Klymenko discussed with Czech colleagues the issue of rehabilitation of soldiers of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs:

“Every day our soldiers are wounded at the front. Accordingly, they need quality treatment and rehabilitation. I thank the Czech side for strengthening the capacities of the medical services of our units.”

In addition, the parties raised the issue of further cooperation and exchange of experience in law enforcement activities.

“The Ukrainian police have tremendous experience in two years of full-scale war and we are ready to share it with our Czech colleagues. Of course, we are talking about control over the circulation of weapons, exchange of information on war crimes of the Russian army and their documentation,” the Minister of Internal Affairs noted.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties signed a joint declaration of intent between the departments. The document envisages strengthening efforts to ensure further progress towards the implementation of EU and NATO standards and principles in the activities of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, exchange of experience in the field of hybrid threats and cyber security, and assistance in the restoration of infrastructure facilities destroyed by the Russian invasion.

The joint meeting was attended by: Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev, Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivskyi, Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine Natalia Naumenko, Director of the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Natalia Andriychuk, Director of the Department of Communication Ministry of Internal Affairs Mariana Reva, Director of the Department of Organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yulia Alekseenko, Deputy Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic for Political Affairs Luka Hendrych, Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Kateryna Arnotova, Director of the Department for International Cooperation and EU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Ekaterina Fligova, Director of the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Pavla Novotna, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Pech, Consul General of the Czech Republic Republics in Lviv David Novy, Director of the Communications Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Myroslav Jashurek.

Also, the delegations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Czech Republic honored the memory of the deceased Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War on the Mars Field of the Lychakiv cemetery.
