Igor Klymenko: Crime rate in Ukraine during war decreased to 15%
“For all the main types of crimes, the situation is controlled. If we compare the beginning of a large-scale war with today, the number of major crimes fell by 10-15 percent,” the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko said in an interview with the Rada TV channel in the all-Ukrainian television marathon “Yenyi Novosti”.
At the same time, Igor Klymenko noted that there is an increase in fraud.
“This, I think, is a challenge for the future entirely to the state. Therefore, we are expanding our cyber police and criminal analysis units. We are doing everything to ensure that there is an exchange of information with the relevant units of the Security Service of Ukraine,” he said.
Another serious challenge is the fight against the proliferation of drugs.
“In any country that has social and economic problems, drug addiction is one of the first places. We understand this, so together with our partners we have updated the unit of the Department of Drug Enforcement. His attention is primarily focused on large criminal organizations that directly affect the production and distribution of narcotic substances, and we conduct them, starting from the border,” the Minister said.
In addition, Igor Klymenko reported that on September 26, the police seized more than 100 kilograms of amphetamine, detained about 20 men.
