Today, September 21, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko held a meeting with American businessman and philanthropist Howard Buffett.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Interior thanked Howard Buffett and his Foundation for all the assistance and projects that the businessman is implementing in Ukraine. Igor Klymenko stressed that the partners respond quickly enough to the needs of Ukraine and promptly transfer the necessary assistance to the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular the National Police and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“I am pleased to welcome you to the Ministry of the Interior. I know that you have traveled almost half of Ukraine and seen the work that is being done despite the war. At the same time, I want to thank you for your help and for promptly making decisions on such acute problems that arise before us due to the constant attacks of the Russian Federation,” said Igor Klymenko.

The Minister of Internal Affairs noted that all international assistance provided is used exclusively for its intended purpose and already fulfills tasks in the de-occupied territories. Specifically, we are talking about demining machines donated from the Howard G. Buffet for the units of the State Emergency Service.

As you know, earlier the American businessman handed over to Ukrainian rescuers mechanized demining machines MV-10 and MV-4, as well as pickup trucks, metal detectors and other equipment.

For his part, Howard Buffett noted that he is ready to continue to help the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with all the necessary equipment, in order not only to eliminate the consequences of Russian attacks, but also to realize a safe environment in the country after the end of the war: “We want you not to doubt our responsibility, because we are ready to continue to supply the necessary equipment to the units of the State Emergency Service and the National Police. We have excellent communication that helps us quickly learn about your urgent needs and bring them to life.”

In particular, the parties discussed the importance of the use in Ukraine of mobile DNA laboratories transferred by the Howard G. Buffet. We are talking about 18 units of such equipment, which is necessary for the identification of the dead, the prompt disclosure and investigation of war crimes.

In addition, the American businessman proposed new projects for the National Police, which he is ready to implement in Ukraine after the end of the war. In turn, the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko welcomed this initiative and noted that it will be relevant for our country.

At the end of the meeting, the parties thanked each other for fruitful cooperation and agreed to continue to communicate on the needs of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
